AMERICAN MAST CLIMBERS
A few frequently asked questions...answered by our CEO.
Who is AMC; does AMC sell or rent equipment; and whats so special about AMC?
* See KHK modifications and photos below.
What is the difference between a
Personnel and Material Hoist,
Material Only Hoists and
Mast Climbers?
A Personnel and Material Hoist is similar to an elevator
that you have no doubt ridden at some point in your life.
In a building of 3 stories or taller, hoists carry men and
materials to desired elevations.
The Personnel and Material type of hoist is
generally located on the outside face of a
building; these hoists carry men and/or
materials for respective trades to various
levels of the building so they can get to
their floors for work on the interior of
the building.
Hoists can travel at speeds of 125 ft/pmin to 300 ft/per min. and greater.
A Material Only Hoist carries material to a desired location. These specialized
hoists are available in a variety of sizes. Please see the Service section for
a list of available hoist sizes.
A mast climber, is a form of scaffolding designed to take men
and material to a desired height or floor level to do work typically on the
exterior of a building, I say typically, because doing work on the building's
interior, elevator shafts, or working on convention center ceilings is not
uncommon and these are all inside applications.
Mast Climbers generally travel at speeds ranging from 25-35 ft/per min.
